A stream of visitors and locals fill the city from Artesia and nearby Texas towns. J Runyon and J E Moore move through, Higinbotham and Wheeler arrive, while several plan trips to Capitan mountains and Amarillo. The fair grounds gain new stables, and ongoing construction includes the Maxey building and Smith building.
Hon. Jerry Simpson received a letter from M. J. Healy vice president and general manager of the D. D. and W. asking about the Roswell road status the St Louis president and the bonus and requesting right of way laws in the New Mexico territory Healy says work will begin at once if arrangements are possible and asks for guidance on securing rights of way.
Friday evening the Roswell car committee will display canvased pictures in the courthouse square during the pilgrimage. A fine instrument has been secured to ensure optimal viewing of the scenes. Citizens are urged to attend as thousands are expected to view the pictures along the journey through the states north and east.
Mrs. B. P. Denning hosted a informal porch party from 8 to 10 PM honoring Miss Slaughter of Dallas and Miss Watkins of Natchez Mississippi. Refreshments were on the porch and piano selections were provided by Eva Hedgcoxe Jessie May Denning. Attendees included Dr. and Mrs Veal Mrs Jatkins Eva Hedgcoxe Fort McPheeters Slaughter and several others.
Doctors Phillips Joyner and Yater examine pupils to identify those needing vaccination. Parents will be notified and vaccination must occur within two weeks of notice. Location noted as 301 North Main.
The bowling alley will discontinue ladies night due to insufficient attendance making it unprofitable. Management thanks the women who attended and expresses appreciation for their support.
A cordial invitation invites visitors to three stores at 404 406 and 410 North Main Street opposite the courthouse park. The note welcomes guests to come in use the desk drink water and feel at home as organizers express eagerness to meet them.
Ladies of the Baptist church host an entertainment Thursday from 4 to 10 pm at Mrs F Divers home featuring music and recitations. Young people hold an evening social. The event invites community kindness and support.
Rev. T. L. Lallance will deliver the sermon at First Methodist tonight. J. T. Carlton departed yesterday for a trip to the Capitan mountains.
