Worries over FY 2024-25 budget adjustments discussed
The Finance Committee referred a proposed FY 2024-25 budget adjustment to the full city council after a four hour meeting last week. The panel addressed more than 5.31 million dollars in adjustments to cover expenses and 381,561 dollars in revenues. Chair Robert Corn outlined transfers from enterprise operations to the general fund across multiple past fiscal years noting FYs 2017 through 2022. The city’s fiscal year runs July 1 to June 30. The airport fund was the focus of discussion.

Linares given probation for firing at vehicle with wife and child
In New Mexico, 26 year old Mat thew Linares received five years of supervised probation after confessing to shooting at a vehicle carrying his wife and child. The judge said up to 25 years could have been imposed on four counts, but suspended the prison term after prosecutors and victims urged leniency. Linares must complete 100 hours of community service, undergo drug and alcohol screening and treatment, attend parenting and domestic violence offender programs, surrender firearms, and seek employment.

Six year old Dray Pacheco of Roswell was surprised by a space themed bedroom makeover funded by Make-A-Wish New Mexico with help from Dion's Pizza. The project included planet decals a new desk and starry blankets. Make-A-Wish NM grants wishes to children with critical illnesses and typically receives referrals from health care providers or families.
