Local judge sworn in to 10th Circuit Court of Appeals
Joel M. Carson III of Roswell was sworn in as a judge to the U S 10th Circuit Court of Appeals during an investiture at the New Mexico Military Institute. Carson, confirmed by the Senate more than three months ago, pledged to discharge his duties with honor and diligence and uphold court standards.

Democrats warned of risks to abortion rights and presidential power while Republicans push for a vote by Sept. 27 and a court tilt to the right ahead of the Oct. 1 term.
