Navesink Highlands New Jersey Septoday Race saw the Reliance beat Shamrock II by several minutes in fog and light wind, preserving the American Cup at home amid a small crowd and unclear final time.
A charity style talking bee hosted by Mrs Edwin Hoskipwith at her North Main street home featured guest of honor Mrs Walter Campbell Aten of Oklahoma City. Attendees included Mes James Mien McGaffrey Willeys Patterson Bowman Sel Jahin Wheeler Parsons Beeson Straw Downs Bouewhion Skip With and Misses Smith Thatcher Ea Lea Mc Cain Cora McCain. Refreshments of bathsauna ice cream and cake were served while guests praised the event.
The New York Mutual Life special New Mexico edition highlights Edgar Caltee a district superintendent and lists a $17 000 policy. Roswell is praised as The Rose Garden of the Southwest and noted as Chaves County seat with rapid growth to about 6000 people. Last evening at the Opera House a program for the M. E. Church south drew good attendance and raised a neat sum. Highlights included Life Let Us Cherish by violin and piano featuring Atherin and Helen Norfleet, a Flower Parasol Drill by twenty children, and Rock-a-bye Baby performed by eight children in a pantomime.
The event featured Maude Baker in the opening recitation Lasea and a Roswell Band Quartet in perfection. Noting departures of three singers, the piece highlights Mrs E A Lewis moving to Roswell and Den ver Fazell from Peacock College, with thanks to Rev Herbert O F M and the St Cecelia Ladies Altar Society for support.
