Fire damages rear of Smith livery stable with insurance coverage

A Sunday afternoon fire at the E. M. Smith livery stable on East Second Street damaged the rear structure and roof while hay and feed were destroyed. All horses and movable property were removed untouched. The loss is expected to be several hundred dollars and covered by insurance. Ownership rests with Dr. J. W. Kinsinger who will rebuild after adjusters settle. At least part of Roswell’s hose cart and water supply posed challenges to firefighters.

Public Notice in Roswell Court Against Garst

In Chaves County New Mexico a district court suit by J P D Hudgins seeks $197.30 plus interest and costs against Citizens Gas Light and Julius Garst to recover labor and materials for a building and to foreclose a mechanic lien. George Freidenbloom plans to relocate The Parlor Barber Shop from 214 North Main Street to 222 North Main, second door south of First National Bank, around September First.
