Historic Hondo Valley Archaeology Tour Highlights Local Finds
The Hondo Valley archaeology tour showcases 24 sites from Archaic Mogollon to mid 1800s Hispanic occupation. Launch events at Hondo Valley Schools include tours, exhibits, and a U.S. 70 project reception and open house with plans for future public education materials. Construction along the U.S. 70 corridor will cause daytime lane closures and flagger guidance in a double fine zone.

Alamogordo to get inland desalination research facility
Alamogordo will host a $4.5 million project led by Sandia National Laboratories and the Bureau of Reclamation. The Tularosa Basin Inland Desalination Research Facility will study inland desalination, brine disposal, and saline water use with pilot systems and a 12-person staff, aiming to open as soon as January.
