Roswell attorney seeks exclusion from water rate petition

A Roswell attorney asks to be removed as a petitioner in a District Court injunction on water, sewer and sanitation rate increases. Sim B. Christy mailed the exclusion request to the court and to the filing attorney and city attorney. The petition lists Leslie K. Evertson as representative of the class that pays city fees for the services. Christy says he supports rate increases but does not want to be part of the class action.

Cow Chip Throw Opens New Mexico Hay Show

Hurricane Anita with 155 mph winds hits the northeast Mexican coast washing out roads uprooting trees and tearing roofs in fishing villages. Evacuations occurred as rains flood streets and cut power in Soto La Marina and La Pesca while tempers calm and shelters fill in Matamoros and nearby towns.

Valley Bank of Commerce Roswell Approved for Formation

State Banking Commissioner Ortiz approved the Valley Bank of Commerce proposal in Roswell subject to FDIC approval. John H. Burson leads the board with Bobby Baldock Betty Hughes Colin McMillan Samuel Spencer Norman Stevens and Peggy Yates. Burson to serve as president and Hughes as vice president. The bank plans a modular unit at 200 N Pennsylvania Ave with $1.2 million in capital subscription expected within two weeks.
