TWO STRIKERS SHOT IN GALLUP COAL DISPUTE
In Gallup New Mexico on October 30 AP reports two National Miners Union strikers were shot during a house to house picketing campaign alleged to involve a non union warder. One man seriously wounded, the other lightly shot in the leg and later discharged. Military authorities opened an investigation into the ambush amid district unrest linked to a prolonged coal strike.

Clovis New Mexico October 30 AP Santa Fe railroad officials say assault charges will be filed in Artesia against Fred Freeman of Ronoak Alabama for stabbing W. W. Nichols a Clovis freight train conductor seven times as he boarded a southbound freight train. Nichols a former New Mexico state legislator sustained non serious wounds and surprised by the attack.

Federal road man shot by wife on hunt
Durward Jones a federal bureau of public road engineer was seriously wounded when his wife accidentally shot him while deer hunting near Luna New Mexico. He was operated on and transported to Silver City where doctors held little hope for recovery. Jones was struck in the abdomen and ribs with a lung puncture as he stood in the deer line. Mrs Jones said she was ten feet away at the moment. She drove to Luna for help and Jones staggered two miles toward his car before rescue. This marked the second big game casualty in New Mexico that season.

Four stunt fliers killed in Amarillo air collision
In Amarillo Texas on October 30 an air show disaster left four stunt fliers dead as two stunt planes collided while flying through streamers near the city’s main street. Pilot Ezra Wiggins Bill Tullis Frank Clay were among the dead in the street plunge. One plane piloted by Art Stade Woodward Oklahoma crashed through a laundry roof. Stade later died from injuries.

Four Injured in Head-On Wreck Near Roswell
Four people were injured in a head-on collision between a large oil truck and a Chevrolet sedan on the Roswell Deming highway, eight miles south of Roswell. In the Chevy were Mr. and Mrs. D W Pierce, their daughter Beulah 7, Mrs. Pierce's mother Mrs T H Keeling of Roswell and Pierces’ nine-year-old son uninjured. Grady Allen drove the truck for Harrison Brothers of Clovis and was unhurt. The injured were taken to St Marys hospital then to Mrs Keelings home. Beulah Pierce suffered severe facial lacerations. others had bruises. No one is cited or under arrest.

Bill Hancock was struck by a car driven by S D Dennison in front of the New Modern Hotel while crossing the street between parked cars. He was rushed to St Marys hospital in a Talmage ambulance. he remained unconscious briefly, then regained consciousness en route. Dennison was not held.
