The sixth annual Pumpkin Contest at Roswell State Bank crowned the Liberty Pumpkin with a crack from the New World’s first Halloween as the Sweepstakes winner earning Kristin Higginbotham 6, of 2200 S. Richardson Ave. The best Halloween theme prize went to Steve Franko 7, of 500 Vista Park Way for a green faced witch pumpkin. Sally Libby 15, of 509 S. Missouri is also noted among participants.

Halloween activities planned in Roswell for Saturday
Halloween events include trick or treating from 5 to 9 p.m. and a free carnival 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Eastern New Mexico State Fairgrounds Commercial Building. A costume parade starts at 6:45 with nine prize categories, plus dances at Yucca Recreation Center and Wool Grower's Center. A haunted house runs 7 to 10:30 p.m. through Saturday.
