Deputy Sheriff C R Young found Charley Garner, jailed for horse theft, breaking steel cleats over a top floor hole in the county jail. Two Chinese witnesses reported activity as Garner tried to widen a twelve inch square opening using a stolen hinge. Eight of ten prisoners could access the upstairs cell. hole to be repaired immediately.

Napoleon Calderon aged 42 died at 5 15 yesterday afternoon at 208 East Hendricks street after a month of illness. He worked for the railroad at Toyah Texas and died from drinking water containing a chemical used to prevent sediment in engine boilers. He left two brothers in San Antonio and Saragosa Mexico. Funeral services were conducted by Rev S S Arrieta at David Calderon’s home and burial was in South Side cemetery.

The school, in its seventy fourth year, recently allied with Columbia University, enrolls about 170 students this year, with 75 new registrants. Francis Brown, D. D., serves as president.
