Four Year Old Girl Involved In Shoplifting Ring
A spree of shoplifting involved a four year old girl and a ten year old girl delivering stolen items to the younger. Police recovered two stolen cars and a 14 year old boy was arrested at Ace Auto Co. in Sioux Falls after a prowler report at 4 20 am. The investigation linked break ins to Poor Boy's Service Station and other locations.

Paroled Boy Who Killed Sister Plans Life Outside Prison
Jimmy Melton, now 17, was granted a December 1 parole by the State Parole Board after serving 12 years to life for killing his 12 year old sister Phyllis at Las Animas on Christmas Eve 1947. The boy entered prison Feb 25 1948 and will be released to his mother in Los Angeles. Warden Roy Best, suspended, had previously housed him in his home.
