During the last week of the campaign starting Monday the 25th one or two l as hes will be held at Republican Headquarters in the courthouse each afternoon. These ladies will explain ballot use and offer information to city ladies. Also an ad for Shurnoff grease retainers from Roswell Auto Co.
For Roswell and the Pecos Valley generally fair tonight and Thursday with colder temperatures tonight and warmer conditions Thursday.
About two thousand coal miners in northern Colorado plan to strike until operators grant a conference on the working agreement and wages. Officials of the United Mine Workers announced the move after a miners vote. The action threatens the Denver coal supply and is said to violate state industrial law per the industrial commission chair.
Extradition papers seeking Betty Brainerd's return to Washington to face charges of allegedly kidnapping the baby of New York newspaper man George T. Stagg will be signed by Gov. Smith tomorrow.
Two bandits were killed and a third wounded after a morning bank robbery attempt at Albert County Bank. Police found burglar tools on the bodies of Charles Dietz and George Brown, leading to their identification as the assailants. Frank Green was among the wounded.
The Howard Electric Bath has been installed at the Beauty Parlors by Mrs. C. A. Porter. A trial is urged.
At the regular meeting of the directors of the Chamber of Commerce last night several items were discussed. The board voted financial support to the Baptist convention held here earlier in the month which drew about 250 visitors to Roswell for four days. Advertising Club suggestions on specialty advertising were requested and other features to promote Roswell locally and out of state were considered. Election return details were reviewed to improve display tables and thoroughness. A vote of thanks was given to G. C. Hanna for two pictures donated for chamber walls.
In Middletown Ohio on October 27 Gov. Cox accused Sen. Harding of seeking the presidency under false pretenses over league policy and differences with Johnson and Taft. He praised Terence MacSwiney as a martyr and predicted his death would inflame the English against current conditions.
Marion Ohio October 27 Senator Harding said in a United Press article he tried a dignified appeal avoiding sensationalism or theater. He asserted America must lead and that the Republican party with him as leader would ensure this. He believed voters will back him after the November second election returns.
B C Rooney arrived yesterday from his northwest ranch to spend several days handling business in town. The Harding-Coolidge Club hosts Friday night events with no mud-slinging anticipated. Roswell Auto Co advertises Stewart Searchlight car device and door window glass issues noted with contact details.

Washington October 27 The State Department faces Senator Harding s flat denial of a statement by Secretary Colby. Colby had asserted that Washington Vanderlip who won trade concessions from the Russian Soviets was an agent of the Republican nominee. Harding denied ever hearing of Vanderlip and the department planned no further comment.
London reports that a settlement today is expected to include an agreement to avert future coal strikes. Negotiations between miners and government began at noon with the trades union congress in session but asked to stay out of the coal issue. A national wage board representing miners and owners is likely to be created to oversee wage deals and production. The nine day strike cost $180,000,000, rivaling nine days of war-time expenditure.
New York Oct 27 An agreement for a Dempsey Carpentier match will be signed after articles are redrafted, manager Kearns announced for Dempsey. He said an agreement should be reached late today. Kearns objected to a provision for forfeits as a deposit in the original article.
President Wilson, addressing pro League Republicans led by Hamilton Holt in Washington, defended the League of Nations and Article Ten. He said the issue transcends party and determines the United States moral obligations and the future strength ofRight in the world. He urged testing every candidate by the question of redemption of the nation's moral obligation.
Charles A Glass arrived today from Chicago to spend several days in the city on business matters.
Charles F. Joyce will depart tomorrow morning for his home in Los Angeles California after several days spent in town handling business matters.

Miss Helda Keller aged 22 died yesterday afternoon at 1203 South Main Street from tuberculosis. The body was shipped last night from Smith and Champaugh funeral parlors to Pottsville Pennsylvania for burial. Her mother sister and brother accompanied the body.

Major Troutman introduced the reader and the Institute orchestra provided music.
Frank Griggy arrived yesterday from San Antonio, Texas, staying several days in the city for business. He is known to have many friends here and plans to conduct several engagements during the visit.
