Microsoft enters hardware business with the Surface
Microsoft debuts its first hardware tablet named Surface to challenge Apple iPad. The Surface runs a Windows 8 RT variant and will only run apps from Microsoft's online store at a starting price of 499 dollars. Available at Microsoft stores and online with limited initial shipments, the device features a kickstand and a pressure sensing cover priced at 100 dollars, and includes Office 2013 apps.
