Gunman kills UAE official during Syrian visit at Abu Dhabi

Governor seeks $30 million annual tax cut for New Mexico cities
Governor Apodaca said he will ask the 1978 Legislature to enact a permanent state tax reduction totaling 30 million dollars a year and to provide about 15 million dollars in aid to New Mexico municipalities. He expects a 12 to 13 percent overall increase in expenditures for 1978-79, with school and higher education funds to be specified in December. He cited an estimated 100 million dollar general fund surplus at year end and urged avoiding excessive revenue accumulation.
