Duffers' Aims Block Golf Ball Bombardment in Staten Island

Tower on the Green Inc owners of two luxury apartment buildings near the Silver Lake Park Golf Course filed a suit in State Supreme Court seeking to halt a bombardment of golf balls from the 18th hole. The suit claims more than 50 shots have broken windows and tenants live in fear of stray balls and flying glass. It seeks 385 in damages and either an injunction against the 18th hole or redesign of the hole to remove danger.

Tear Gas Involves Roswell Killing Over shotgun Loan

A 46 year old Roswell man Jim G Branham Jr was stabbed to death after an argument over loaning a shotgun. Thomas J Smith Jr was charged with murder after being shot in a struggle with police and tear gas was used to compel surrender. Branham died at St Mary's Hospital shortly after the fight near his home. Smith detained at county jail awaiting arraignment.
