Las Cruces New Mexico October 24 Caswell Neal Carlsbad lawyer and Democrat accusing Clyde Tingley and J J Dempsey of an informal pre convention pact to share patronage and to appoint a highway commission acceptable to Dempsey. He suggests John Simms withdrew as governor candidate under pressure and previews further details on consecutive pages.
The Union Pacific M-10001 crossed from Los Angeles to New York City in 56 hours 56 minutes, reaching Grand Central at 6:56 AM. The 376-foot diesel flier, driven by a 900 horsepower engine, beat the 1906 record by nearly 15 hours, with W. A. Harriman aboard as successor to his father in the railroad leadership.
Dr. John F. Condon declared Hauptmann the man known as John who received the $50,000 ransom for the Lindbergh baby after an hour and a half talk in the Bronx jail. Michigan City Indiana October 25 Armed men abducted town marshal Thurman Riordan and used him as a decoy to enter the home of Thomas Maloy leader of the Chicago Motion Picture Operators Union. They bound two others and ransacked the residence escaping with about 63000 dollars in cash and jewelry, mostly cash believed union funds. Maloy was away on a hunting trip in Canada.
A Sonora reader praises the English flyers Turner and Pangborn for a bold two motor plane feat, notes the Dutch in Douglas laid back, and predicts Japan will soon fly into California for lunch while Wiley Post is imagined as a model of endurance.
Santa Fe Oct 25 AP Albuquerque will feel the campaign windup before election with both parties staging final rallies. Republicans plan rallies on November 3 and 6 while Democrats stage Joe Robinson at the University gym on November 3 and, with Douglas Fairbanks, at the Armory on November 5.
Tierra Amarrilla New Mexico October 25 AP Jaffa Miller gubernatorial candidate and Maurice Miera congressional candidate spoke at a Republican rally. Miller warned parsimony cannot replace economy in education and criticized Democratic cuts in teacher salaries. Miera compared records of Dennis Chavez and Sen. Cutting, claiming Chavez 0.583 percent for the people and Cutting 1.090 percent.
Albuquerque dispatch says U S Senator Bronson Cutting seeking re election will speak in Roswell tonight and Gal Iup Friday night sharing the platform with Newton Jenkins of Chicago in Roswell and with Jaffa Miller and Maurice Miera candidates for governor and congressman in Gallup both appearances to feature side by side talks by other Republican hopefuls.

Sheriff G R Fletcher of Colfax County said Frederick Baker arrested near here is not the kidnapper linked to Mrs. Alice Speed Stoll. Baker allegedly escaped from a West Virginia penitentiary and stole a car at Lingle Wyoming on Sept 18. Justice agent Alex Street was en route to question Baker, but had not arrived by noon.
Mountainair New Mexico October 25 AP G O Caldwell attorney and Chavez critic accepted Caswell Neal challenge and said he would debate Neal within 100 miles of here on the question of how many relatives a congressman should have on the federal payroll.
In Santa Fe on October 25 an endorsement letter from L S Ray of the disabled emergency offices organization praised Senator Bronson Cutting for his constant effort on behalf of the war disabled. The note came from Ray as head of the legislative committee.
Senator Aaronson Cutting will address the Republican campaign meeting at the Junior High School auditorium at eight o'clock. Newton Jenkins of Chicago progressive leader in Illinois will also speak after arriving this afternoon. After the meeting both speakers will address a Spanish-American citizens meeting at the Armory.

United States Senator John H Overton and attorney Burt W Henry, president of the Honest Election League, collided in a hotel lobby in New Orleans. The brawl lasted a minute or two with fast blows and took Overton to his room badly battered with a cut eye a cut mouth and facial bruising. The altercation followed Overton s refusal to apologize for remarks on the Senate floor.
Berlin October 25 AP Hitler postponed his expected pronouncement on church affairs due to a toothache. He had planned to speak after receiving an oath of loyalty from Reichsbishop Ludwig Muller and Protestant bishops.

Albuquerque reports range and farm conditions in the northeastern counties are described as the worst ever seen by meteorologist B. L. Hardy after a 25 day survey from the Rio Grande to the Texas line and Portales to Trinidad. Sub soil is severely dried, heavy rains would have little effect, no feed for cattle and crops unable to be raised.
Paterson and surrounding towns faced a broad dye shop strike as roughly 30 000 workers in the Passaic valley and New York metro area halted operations.
