Vault Ripped Open by Blast Over Weekend

The Bank of New Mexico branch on Sandia Base in Albuquerque was robbed over the weekend with a vault blast. Fire destroys Ameri can Furniture Co warehouse in Albuquerque

Fire broke out at the American Furniture Co warehouse at 1500 1st NW and witnesses say the building was a total loss. Albuquerque fire department responded with all apparatus as flames rose 30 feet high, firemen within 15 feet of the blaze inside.

J. W. Fishback, district geophysicist in Roswell since last July for Stanolind Oil and Gas, moved to the Stanolind district exploration office in Albuquerque. State Highway Death Toll Rises to 273

Two separate traffic accidents Sunday pushed New Mexico’s highway deaths for the year to 273, up from 289 at the same point last year. The victims include S.3.C. George D. Williamson of Ft. Bliss and an unidentified Indian youth aged 17 to 20. Williamson’s car left U. S. 380 west of Carrizozo and flipped four times, ejecting him 65 feet. The youth was struck on U.
