Ron Malone has led the Assurance Home since 1975, expanding from a 10,000 square foot start to a large campus on East 18th Street. The program evolved from a troubled boys home in Springer to a shelter for abused and neglected teens, emphasizing family style living, staff stability, and youth empowerment. Malone, a native New Mexican with a sociology anthropology background, reflects on his career, family support, and the home’s mission to prevent juvenile justice involvement by treating kids with respect and opportunity.
