Packers Found Guilty in Mail Fraud Case at Chicago

Six Consumers Packing Co. officials were found guilty on fourteen counts of using the mails to defraud stockholders nationwide of about half a million dollars. The verdict came as a jury returned the verdict in Chicago on October twenty two. John Simms, a prominent state Democrat, is billed for a Monday Armory appearance to discuss state and national issues.

The county board of commissioners announced four voting sites for the November 2 election. Northwest precinct voters vote at the Armory, northeast at the courthouse in the commissioner room, southeast at the Salvador Army hall, and south of second street west of Main street at Jones monument shop. Surgeons to examine eye of Gunboat Smith in South Bend

In South Bend Indiana surgeons will examine the injured eye of heavyweight Gunboat Smith after a knockout by Harry J Reb of Pittsburgh. Smith was blinded by a first round blow and doctors fear optic nerve damage. Also noted was the death of William E Brown 31 from tuberculosis after arriving from Abilene Texas two months ago.
