Thieves Hit Sugar Bowl and Tasty Freeze in Roswell Raids

Robberies struck Roswell fringe areas last night with breaks at Sugar Bowl 1027 E Second St and Tasty Freeze 1313 N Main St. From North Main they took 36 dollars from two cash registers and 10 dollars from a juke box at Sugar Bowl. Police found a 5 14 a m break in at Sugar Bowl and 4 27 a m at the other site. In court this morning cases fell from 24 yesterday to five. Fines totaled 130 dollars with several 50 dollar and 30 day jail sentences. Two suspects aged 29 and 35 were handed to Border Patrol. Bonds of 500 dollars were posted for two men charged with operating as untaxed liquor dealers.

Leyte victim son of Roswell couple from Mineola Texas

Joe Albert Patterson 17, of Mineola Texas, son of late Frank and (Mrs) Patterson of Roswell, was among 36 men killed in the Leyte explosion fire aboard the U S Aircraft Carrier Leyte at Boston. He had served aboard the ship about a week and was nephew of E. K. and A. S. Patterson of Roswell.

Dulles to report to Eisenhower on Trieste and others

Washington reports say the United States and Britain will slow the evacuation of about 7,000 troops from Trieste Zone A to avoid provoking Tito.
