Bush and Iraq policy amid Middle East tensions
Buckley notes Ari Fleischer contradicted a Amman report about Bush promising Jordan not to move on Iraq. He argues Bush should threaten open inspections of Iraq and demand Abdul Rahman Yasin be delivered to the U.S. embassy in Kuwait as part of a tougher stance.

Lafayette's wartime generosity spurred nationwide homage and honors
Knutson Hayne notes Lafayette spent about 140000 of his own money in the six years from 1776 for the United States, a total around 200000 with interest. Congress passed a bill, Monroe signed, and Lafayette visited battlefields, Monticello, and Washington's tomb. A souvenir industry flourished as towns in 26 states claimed Lafayette or LaGrange in his honor. Lafayette Square was renamed and a full length portrait sits in the House chamber.
