Cox's Lie on Mobilizing Ohio Guard Exposed
Ohio Governor Cox is challenged over his claim never to press a soldier into an industrial dispute. Clark showed Special Order No. 52 from October 25, 1919, directing Ohio troops to Akron to hold in readiness for Canton action, signed by the Adjutant General and "By command of Governor Cox." Canton papers announced troops mobilizing for duty. The disclosure questions Cox's truthfulness to workingmen and voters amid campaign claims.
