U.S. Cuba swap talks on Gross and Gonzalez surface
U S officials floated exchanging imprisoned Cuban exile Rene Gonzalez for contractor Alan Gross after Gonzalez was freed on parole. Cuba rejected the idea and pressed for pardons for four other Cubans known as the Wasp Network. The talks, pressed by Bill Richardson, touched on easing travel and trade limits, oil spill cleanup, postal exchanges, and Havana Club rum sales.
