Chaves County Farm Bureau rejects boycott plan

The Chaves County Farm and Livestock Bureau voted against backing a nonunion agricultural products boycott at its annual meeting. They approved resolutions urging groups not to hold Albuquerque meetings and to discourage participation in the New Mexico State Fair. The group also backed changes to federal estate taxes and more accessible government student loans for farm families.

Goddard High football player Donnell Hunter dies at 17

Donnell Hunter of Goddard High School died at 8:35 a.m. at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center after four days in critical condition from head and spine injuries suffered in a Friday night Wool Bowl game against Levington. He was 17, son of W. C. and Jewelene Hunter of Roswell.
