Governor to Visit Roswell for Youth Round Table
Governor Gary Johnson will join Roswell High School at 3 p.m. Thursday for a Leaders Stepping Up round table with students from Chaves County public high schools. Two student leaders from each school will address decriminalization and legalization of drugs, with about 50 students per school in attendance.

County grants target juvenile delinquency in Chaves County
Chaves County has received two Governor's Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee grants totaling 229000 dollars to curb juvenile delinquency. The smaller 95000 dollar grant funds a home visitation program for children ages 3 to 6th grade and services to connect families with community resources. The 134000 dollar grant supports a Continuum of Services including a truancy officer, a Court Appointed Special Advocates mentor program, intensive surveillance with a bracelet monitoring system within 50 feet, and a first offender program.
