Punch Drunk Love a bold shift for Paul Thomas Anderson
The review praises Adam Sandler's performance in Punch Drunk Love as the most moving work from Anderson yet. It notes the film’s audacious disjointed style, likens it to a psychedelic Technicolor 1940s spirit, and highlights Sandler shedding his usual quirks to reveal a complex lead amid a lighter, shorter film from the director at age 32.
