Deputies Seek Union Representation for Chaves County Sheriff Staff
Deputies and supervisors in the Chaves County Sheriff's Office filed Sept. 20 for union certification with the International Union of Police Association AFL CIO. The three member Labor Management Relations Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chaves County Administrative Center to consider the petition, which covers about 34 employees. The board may proceed with two members present, with a third to be chosen at the meeting.

Roswell man nabbed with 2 pounds of meth
Corry R. Hays, 25, was arrested in Roswell after police found two pounds of methamphetamine valued at over 32000 dollars in his North Ohio Avenue residence. SWAT breached the door during the service of a narcotics warrant and Hays was charged with trafficking and related offenses. He is held without bond at Chaves County Detention Center.

Intruder Charged After Armed Late-Night Break‑In
Roswell police arrested 19 year old Johnny Chavez after he allegedly kicked open an apartment door at Mesa Verde on Saturday and aimed a handgun at a woman during a noise complaint incident. Officer Humberto Loya reported Chavez fled the scene with the weapon after commands to drop it.
