Airport Chief Resigns Amid City Mismanagement Claims

Las Cruces airport manager Ted Morris Jr after six years resigns claiming city mismanagement and a push to fire him. He sought overseas work and filed two grievances with the city personnel board, winning the first and losing the second, though he says grievances did not drive his departure. He cites a doctor note reprimand and an incident of being “mean to an employee” as part of the grievances. He also cites a directive to deny Mayor Ruben Smith influence over a runway project connected to Smith and Aguirre.
