The Soviet Union denounces Andrei Sakharov as an anti patriot and calls the Nobel Peace Prize award a political manipulation. Tass notes such prizes are often speculated for political aims and counters calls to Oslo for Sakharov to accept it.
A 54 year old scientist and dissident speaks in a Moscow apartment about his Oslo prize hopes and detente. Tass quotes praise and criticism, labeling his anti Soviet stance as a political gesture while noting foreign reactions and alleged support for US positions and Chilean repression.
Sid Goodloe of Roswell hoists one of 100 bales of straw at the Eastern New Mexico State Fairgrounds in preparation for the 1975 ACDC Bicentennial Harvest Festival. The event opens at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Commercial Building with free admission for RCDC members farmers and ranchers and their families.

Santa Fe AP The New Mexico attorney general says the state school board has no rules barring girls from competing in contact sports with boys. The NM Activities Association had read a board rule as a prohibition and a student challenged it in district court.
