Yankees Beat Giants 3 to 1 In World Series Game

GROUNDS, New York Oct 10 The New York Yankees defeated the New York Giants 3 to 1 to cut the series deficit to 3 1. Veteran pitcher Hoyt, 22, earned the win in a cool clear afternoon in GROUNDS attendance near 30 000. The game featured strong hitting by the Yankees and a sharp defense as the Giants offense was held to one run.

Battery Leaves Saturday for Fort Bliss Texas

Captain W H McCullough says Battery A will leave Saturday for Fort Bliss joining the state units in a two week encampment. A special train via Pecos will carry the unit, with additional forces joining from the valley. The battery is in good shape and aims for a strong showing at Fort Bliss.

Rubio Held Without Bond By Judge Brice In N M Case

Juan Rubio remains in custody without bond awaiting action by Chaves county grand jury meeting first Monday in November. Preliminary hearing saw Rubio held without bond by R M Parsons, with habeas corpus action argued by his attorney J C Gilbert in Carlsbad last week. Fire damages home of Joseph Ringer at 407 North Washington

A Saturday night fire seriously damaged the home of Joseph Ringer at 407 North Washington. The family was away at the time and the cause is unknown. The back of the house was badly burned and water damage affected the rest of the structure.

Judge Charles R. Brice sentenced Bob Whittle Carl Beckman and Ralph Nicolson after guilty pleas to carrying a deadly weapon during illegal liquor transport. Whittle faces 6 months and 1 day to 7 months, Beckman 18 months to 2 years, Nicolson 1 year to 1 year and 1 day. The trio were arrested near Acme with a Studebaker Six and fifteen cases of whiskey, sent to federal authorities in Santa Fe.

In Blackwell Oklahoma on October 10 about 200 Ku Klux Klan members marched into the First Methodist church during services led by a hooded figure bearing a burning cross. Attorneys Held for Death of Negro Man

Oklahoma City October 10 Attorneys Moman Pruitt and Orben Patterson are held on bond in connection with the death of Joe Patterson a Black man. Pruitt allegedly confessed to shooting Patterson at his home yesterday and Patterson’s wife reported he said before dying that Orben Patterson fired the shot.
