The city council and Commercial Club discuss enlarging the waterworks committee to six, with two seats for the council, two for the Commercial Club, and two for citizens at large. J. F. Hinkle is named by the Commercial Club and R. F. Barnett is briefly favored before Bell is elected. Ordinance No 111 repeals No 108, delaying a special bond election for streets and sewer work. A mass meeting to elect two committee members at large is planned for Tuesday night.
The Military Institute opens its football season with a team organized after Friday night meeting. Practice starts this week, an order placed for paraphernalia, including clothes and bandages. One trip is planned to El Paso as the institute seeks possible games.
Notice to Stockholders announces relocation of the Roswell Building and Loan Association office from the Texas Block room to the front rooms over First National Bank where dues will be received. A. O. Millice, Secy. Fred C. Hunt and E. A. Finnegan traveled by auto from El Paso on Sunday.
A court suit has been filed by state authorities against the Pennsylvania Development Co. alleging improper land sales practices and seeking enforcement or remedies. The action targets regulatory compliance and potential damages.
The United States sues the Pennsylvania Development Co the New Mexico Fuel and Iron Co and W S Hopewell to cancel deeds to about 10 000 acres of Valencia county timber land near the Manzano mountains filed in district court. It alleges fraud by defendants and asks injunction against further timber cutting and restitution to the Territory.
The Territorial Board of Dental Examiners gathers in Roswell tomorrow and Wednesday with full attendance expected. Members include Drs. Olney Las Vegas Lord Santa Fe Moran Deming Ervin Carlsbad and Brown Roswell. Ten or more will receive free dental work such as extractions and gold fillings, with no color distinction. Call at Dr Brown’s office at eight tomorrow morning to secure a place. D E Cope returned to Roswell with his wife after a year in Gallatin Missouri to spend the winter there.
A gas company failed to supply sufficient fuel for cooking as oil ran short prompting concerns over household use and potential rationing.
A gas outage left 225 Roswell households unable to cook or light their homes after crude oil ran low and a water contamination issue flooded the storage tank. Superintendent Sweet admits missteps in ordering and storage but promises expansion of facilities and improved service to prevent a recurrence.
Miss Florence Thode, daughter of H J Thode, married Royal C Johnson of Highmore South Dakota at the Thode residence near Dexter Roswell New Mexico. The Episcopal service was by Rev Evans with a reception and gifts of glass silver and dresses noted. The couple left for Highmore to establish a home following the ceremony.
Plans to remodel the Southern Methodist Church include building an interior gallery converting the space into one large room and improving the pulpit and air system. Capacity will rise from 400 to 1000 with better seating for growing attendance. Contract to be let Monday and work to begin immediately.

A new Sunday time card on the Pecos Valley railroad sets the night train arrival at 8 05 PM local and depart 8 20 PM. The prior arrival was 5 25 PM local and is now expected to drift past midnight for months. The morning train remains unchanged. If autos become dominant the line may be abandoned.
