Wedding Couple Gets Dunked First At The Alps
A planned outdoor wedding at The Alps above Tumwater Dam turned comic when a canoe tipped as the procession neared the altar. Bride Kay Gorman and groom Gene Tubbs, along with the paddler and a dog Smokey, fell into the river. Archie Marlin, the wedding’s arranger, leapt in to rescue the groom as the bride struggled in the water. They arrived 15 minutes later to proceed with the ceremony as the minister noted a first baptism and marriage.
