City 15 Ready for Appraisal of Power Company

The city council approved notifying Southwestern Public Service to appoint a representative for an appraisal of property. Oklahoma City October 4 AP George R Kelly the machine gunman will plead guilty to the governments charge he kidnaped Charles F Urschel Kathryn Kelly will stand trial with her husband appearing as a witness Roberts said after conference with Mrs Kelly in the guarded county jail where Urschel kidnapers Bailey Bates await sentencing next Saturday Roberts said Mrs Kelly would file a suit to prevent the 15000 reward from being paid to anyone else she meant to claim the reward for she had planned to surrender before government agents surprised the couple in Memphis hiding place last week

French fliers start long distance attempt from Oran

At Oran Algeria on October 4 AP reports Jean Assolant and Rene Lefevre began at 5 45 am for India to beat the distance flight record set last August by Paul Codos and Maurice Rossi Their plane Canary Bird II cruises at about 140 miles per hour versus 105 for the record holders Their 1929 Maine to Spain flight is recalled in the re christening of the craft.

Two Tropical Storms Threaten Caribbean and Florida

Two storms moved from the Caribbean as hurricane warnings spread through the Florida Keys. Weather officials reported disturbances south of Cienfuegos and north of Turk's Island with winds near hurricane force locally. Gale predictions and storm warnings covered the Florida west and east coasts as Havana faced a 70 mile per hour gale and a quiet night amid outages and downed trees.

Miners Walkout At Dawson Mines Seeks Pact With UMWA

Gilbert C. Davis, manager of Phelps Dodge mines at Dawson, said workers failed to show on October 2. Workers beaten shot by strikers at Ambridge steel plant
