Allied forces report in France and Belgium September losses of 123 036 Germans, 1600 heavy guns, and over ten thousand machine guns. Since July 15 total prisoners exceed 250 000 as American units press in Argonne Forest west of Verdun.
Washington reports the country is falling behind the required pace for the Fourth Liberty Loan. Only half a billion dollars has been officially reported so far and daily subscriptions must exceed three hundred million dollars to reach the six billion dollar minimum.

Last night the city council met at city hall and heard a health report showing typhoid and small pox under control. Six small pox cases were in Chihuahua with none elsewhere. no new typhoid cases recently. A $12.50 monthly grant for the women's rest room was approved and the tax rate set at 7.14 mills. The city physician and chief of police were told to pursue nonreporting cases and monitor the outbreak.
