Four Men Killed in Baltimore Steel Plant Blast

Four men died and eight were injured at Maryland Steel Company Sparrows Point when a blast released flaming gas and coke through a hole in a furnace casting socket. Victims were near a newly installed air pipe during a ten minute burn before the accident. Officials cannot yet explain the cause.

How A Councilman Was Named In Roswell Convention

The Democratic delegate convention of the Twelfth Council District met at the Roswell courthouse last Saturday. A. J. Welter was temporary chair, Emmett Patton temporary secretary, and U. S. Bateman led credentials. The platform opposed railroad passes for public officers and urged clean elections and reform. J. O. Cameron of Eddy County was named as councilman candidate.

Dr. C. E. Lukens preached his farewell sermon at the Presbyterian church as he leaves for Albuquerque to begin missionary work in New Mexico and Arizona for orphans. He plans to base in Roswell for about a year with his wife, praised as a supportive partner in his ministry.

Catron seeks injunction over territorial reapportionment in Santa Fe
