Roswell to gain Texas International flights and hub status
Texas International Airlines will nearly double air service at Roswell Industrial Air Center starting Oct 28 adding flights to Clovis Amarillo El Paso Denver Salt Lake City San Angelo Abilene Corpus Christi and a return from Big Spring. Daily flights rise from six to 11 with Convair 600 aircraft and a new $1 million terminal funded mainly by an EDA grant aims to push annual boardings to 35 000 by year end.

Corrie named to county post in Chaves County
Chaves County Commissioners named Paul L. Corrie as the new county purchasing agent replacing Marshall Pierson who resigned after a short tenure.
