Artesia teacher murdered at local elementary school
Police report a bilingual teacher, George William Gutierrez, was shot about 8:30 a.m. at an Artesia elementary. I. O. Sonny Gonzales, 35, turned himself in after the murder as investigations indicated a domestic quarrel. Gutierrez directed the bilingual program before funding was cut, and he resided on Briscoe Avenue. Gonzales works at the Nava Refinery.
