Public Lands Filings Reach 4 Million Acres in Year
Citizens filed on over four million acres of public lands in the past fiscal year per the Commissioner of the General Land Office annual report. Harry Honore a Hibbs New Mexico man is charged with murder in Las Cruces for the slaying of Purcell Dixon a Las Cruces man. Dixon died after being stabbed October 28 following a quarrel over a woman. Honore fled to El Paso Texas and was arrested there November 1. Witnesses said Dixon tried to eject Honore from a pool hall where the fight occurred and Honore stabbed him twice.
