Mob Lynches Suspect After Rape Assault in Buchanan County
In St Joseph Missouri on November 29 a 19 year old black man Lloyd Warner confessed attacker of two women dies in a mob lynching at the Buchanan county jail. Witnesses say he was pulled from a cell by four youths and hanged from an elm near the courthouse after being doused with gasoline and set afire. Authorities faced a massive mob of about 7000 as National Guard and peace officers struggled to keep order during the attack. The first victim, a 21 year old white woman, was attacked in an alley after a movie night. A second woman, another black girl, had been assaulted previously but faced no prosecution. Tear gas, a tank company, and a tense standoff marked the chaotic night as officers attempted to maintain control.

City plugs tenth well under Fort y well contract
Clifford Smith reports the tenth well under the forty well contract for Albuquerque has been successfully plugged. The well near 11th and Main once supplied water to the Military Institute, pumping 1000 gallons per minute underground. Water fed a ten inch sewer and created a two foot head. it was halted by filling with 40 tons mud and 60 sacks cement. The 300 foot well leaked about 1610 acre feet annually, enough to irrigate 460 acres. Abel wells remain abandoned inside the city and should be plugged to stop waste and protect foundations.
