British MPs were told that Britain remained short of full armament as more men would be called into service. The report notes continued air raids over Britain and the Axis powers Germany and Italy, with Italians fleeing to their naval base and Greeks continuing to defeat Italian forces, according to contemporary dispatches.

Promotions were announced today for two employees of the Unemployment Compensation Commission. Herman Brewer, an interviewer in Roswell, was named manager of the Carlsbad office, replacing B W Smith who resigned to join the Southwestern Public Service Company. Mildred Powell, an interviewer in Clovis, was named manager of the Tucumcari office, succeeding H H Bode who becomes food stamp supervisor at Santa Fe.
