J A Brubaker announces a new alfalfa meal factory in Roswell to process Kaffir and Indian corn and other feeds. The plant will employ eight workers initially and be financed with fifty thousand dollars in outside capital. Roswell hopes to gain a new industry and better railroad support as Brubaker plans to move his family here.
Roswell resident J J Hagerman responds to the question about appointing his son as Governor. He says he is gratified and believes his son will perform duties acceptably, with no enemies to punish nor favors to grant, and no promises to political factions or coteries. He pledges a square, fair approach and lets consequences take care of themselves.
A wave of approval follows Herbert J. Hagerman’s selection as governor of New Mexico. Roswell leaders and business figures from both parties hail the choice, calling him a fit, clean, and businesslike administrator. Topeka Kan November 25 The Santa Fe System through J E Hurley general manager has granted locomotive engineers on the Albuquerque to El Paso division higher pay. Rates rise from 3 65 and 3 75 per hundred miles to 3 75 and 3 90 matching the La Junta to Raton division. Engineers apart from passenger service are relieved from filling grease cups. A request for higher pay for New Mexico division freight engineers was denied by Hurley.
James Pinson observed a one foot square hole punched through the south wall of the county jail during morning street work. Investigation found prisoners caused the damage more from mischief than escape, as they were confined in iron cages.
