Arthur E. Curren founder of the Clovis News Journal died Tuesday in Garden Grove California at age 85. He started the paper in 1907 as a weekly and shifted to a dairy operation in 1909.

Santa Fe AP reports E T Hensley Jr longtime NM Court of Appeals chief judge died at 60 in Santa Fe after cancer illness. A Portales native, he served 19 years as district judge before leading the newly created appeals court in 1966. Funeral in Portales Central Christian Church. Burial Portales Cemetery. Survivors include widow Elizabeth and three sons Fred Bill and Jack. He held many civic roles and and bank posts.
