Indiana Launches 35000-Ton Battleship Symbol of Resolve

Newport News Virginia November 21 Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox spoke at the launching of the 35000 ton battleship Indiana calling it a symbol of the nation's will to survive in a world at war. He warned of possible entry into full belligerence and said the Indiana would be a tower of strength for the fleet. The dream of peace, he added, had ended with fascism and the new ship rose like a beacon amid growing tensions. Continued to Page Eight.

Juveniles Held For Robbery Here

Two colored boys, both juveniles, were arrested after allegedly robbing the Te Pee Cafe at 106 East 2nd and attempting to break into Royal Cleaners at 104 West 1st. Police recover about $10 in nickels and clothing, household goods, stamps, gum, cigars, and items from Gertrude Love at 105 North Kansas. Back door pried. phonograph coin boxes broken. Stolen items include fur coat, nightgown, sweater, hat, table cover, bed spreads, silverware, wrist watch, 15 pillow cases, hat box, and two flashlights.

Guns Blazing In The Captive Mines Strike

In Fayette county Pennsylvania gunfire wounded at least ten men during a five day old United Mine Workers strike for a union shop in the Frick Coke Edenborn mine area. Pickets and non-strikers clashed along the mine road as crowds gathered, with several wounded and tensions high near Uniontown.

Man Arrested for Oklahoma Officers

Albert Cope was arrested here yesterday for burglary and bond jumping. Officers from Anadarko, Oklahoma, sought him after a police radio notice. He was captured locally from the alert as Anadarko officers pursued him last night.
