New York on November 17 Colonel Roosevelt returned to his magazine labors after the election. When asked what he thought of the results he replied Not a word. A reporter asked if he could come back and he again said Not a word as he jumped from his automobile to his office.
Governor Campbell of Texas reports to the State Department that conditions along the Mexican border are calm. No news of trouble at Uvalde is received, and Texas authorities are taking measures to prevent clashes between Americans and Mexicans.
At the Naval Academy in Annapolis three more midshipmen are ill with typhoid and sent to the academy hospital. Lawrence K. Forde Bert F. Clark from Wyoming and James A. McCowan from Texas are listed among thirteen total cases. The report notes the cases as mild.
New Haven November 17 Yale and Harvard elevens began final preparations for the game on Saturday. Harvard likely to start Wigglesworth at quarterback Corbett at left half Frothingham at right half and Leslie or Morrison at full back. Both teams to conduct a long signal practice on the Yale field this afternoon.
Chicago reports the deaths of two prominent stock yards commission men, Thomas Kelly and W. W. Shearer, from heart trouble at their homes. Kelly led the National Live Stock Commission Co. with branches in St. Louis Kansas City and Ft Worth and had vast Texas and Oklahoma land interests. Shearer, a longtime Chicago yards figure, was a close associate of Kelly for nearly forty years.
London action gathers thousands of signatures on a petition for Dr Hawley Crippen reprieve from a hanging sentence for wife murder. The petition likely to be presented to Home Secretary Churchill today.
Family reports Carl Leopold killed himself in Los Angeles after months of business reverses including a saloon purchase. local earlier referenced his death but details on the method were not disclosed.
A man in Los Angeles found to have spent $17,000 on a venture proved unwise and a losing proposition. The toll of the troubles left him tired of life and his body will be shipped to his old Iowa home on Sunday.

W T Robbins to become grand master with Charles A Woodruff of Newark as deputy grand master and Joseph R Deacon of Bordentown re elected grand treasurer. Several candidates vie for grand wardenship.
Altoona November 16. The Pennsylvania State Conference on Charities and Corrections opens its annual convention focusing on preventing infant mortality. Exhibits from the Baltimore campaign have been sent to the meeting.
Mrs. Alice Camm, who has undergone three recent operations at St. Mary's Hospital, is now out of danger and improving nicely.
London reports an apparent statement fixing November 28 as the dissolution date. The government aims to pass the budget before calling an election. At Nottingham Conservatives, Henry Chaplin decried the government saying it bows to foreign gold and enemies of England.

President Taft sails for home from Panama amid progress at the canal and will stop at Guantanamo Bay for a brief naval base inspection. He plans to dictate his general message for Congress en route.
Chicago on November 17 saw garment workers strike again across several city districts. About 300 marchers waited near Gault Court where Italian strike breakers reside, then attacked as they moved to work. Police used clubs to disperse the mob including many girls.
