Navy officer warns of more racial incidents on carriers

Vice Admiral David H. Bagley, deputy chief of Naval Operations for manpower, stated in Washington that additional racial outbreaks are likely before the situation is brought under control. He referenced incidents on the carriers Constellation and Kitty Hawk and the fleet oiler Hassayampa.

Dies Sr. Former U.S. Rep. Martin Dies Sr. dies at 71

Former U.S. Representative Martin Dies Sr. died of an apparent heart attack Tuesday night in Lufkin Texas. The burly Texan, a longtime congressman and the first chairman of the House Committee on Un American Activities, retired in 1958 after more than two decades in Congress.

Roswell City Council Allows Drug Case Handling By Court

The Roswell municipal court will handle unlawful possession of marijuana up to one ounce under a new ordinance, with fines from 50 to 300 dollars and imprisonment up to 90 days. The council also authorized Mayor Brainerd to sign a highway study contract under a federal funding program. Judge grants motion to release assets in Krebs and Sohns suit

In Roswell, Judge Paul Snead signed an order releasing assets and transferring lien proceeds in the Krebs and Sohns Inc. versus Roswell State Bank matter. The hearing involved Krebs lawyer Dale Dilts and Roswell attorneys including S. B. Christy IV and James B. Stapp. The order states that lien proceeds from shipments are collateral for the claimed amount and requires Roswell State Bank to segregate funds and notify the city of Roswell of the lien. Jury clears Pvt Smith in first fragging court martial

Billy Dean Smith a Watts Los Angeles 24 year old is acquitted by a military jury of murder and attempted murder in Vietnam base grenade case that killed two officers and wounded another. He was convicted of assaulting a military policeman and given a bad conduct discharge and reduced in rank. The verdict came after five hours of deliberation and spectators expressed relief.
