Two Outlaws Motorcycle Club members were charged with aggravated assault after nailing a redhead's hands to a tree over a $10 debt. Mayor Harris Leads Push for Absentee Voting Measure

The New Mexico Municipal League will file suit in the state Supreme Court in Santa Fe to force the canvassing board to adopt Constitutional Amendment No 7 allowing absentee voting for state offices. Mayor Gail Harris of Roswell, league president, says the action targets Gov David Cargo and Secretary of State Ernestine Evans and will be pursued at a Saturday Albuquerque session and a Monday court filing. Harris and Albuquerque executive director Donald Rider argue the board has not ratified the amendment due to constitutional language and sparse counties. The league stresses its role for voters in cities, towns and villages and positions the suit as a step to preserve democracy and the right to vote.
