Dedication set for Paul Horgan Library at New Mexico Military Institute

A dedication ceremony for the Paul Horgan Library will be held November 26 at 11 am at New Mexico Military Institute. Horgan, a Roswell native and former IInstitute booster, taught there for years. The notice also lists vaccination drives and local community events including Lions Club activities and an open house at the Medical Center to showcase a new multi test machine.

New Mexico Farm Bureau reelects Langenegger as president

A. W. Langenegger of Hagerman was re elected to his fifth two year term as president of the New Mexico Farm and Livestock Bureau during the 200 delegates annual meeting. Also re elected were state vice presidents Adair Merrell of Animas and James Williams of Grady.

Hartke Leads Roudebush in Indiana Senate Vote Interim

An interim tally from Secretary of State William Salin shows Sen. Vance Hartke ahead of Rep. Richard Roudebush by 4 482 votes with Hartke 871 089 to Roudebush 866 607. Counts may change due to machine errors and rechecks in two counties. certification due by Nov. 18 to Gov. Whitcomb.

State Hospitals official denies mass layoffs plan

Dr. Miron Neal secretary of the state Department of Hospitals and Institutions said a news report claiming 60 to 70 employees would be laid off is not accurate though an old memo warned of potential cuts. He noted DHS payments and budget changes since September have eased the crisis and November payroll is covered.
