Miracle dog Zeke defies parvovirus and pneumonia
Eight month old Rotweiler Zeke survived parvovirus after owners planned euthanasia. Under care of Dr. Marty Pattison of Sun Valley Animal Clinic the dog showed signs of life and later recovered from pneumonia. The McGonagle family credits the veterinarian's persistence for saving their pet and brightening their children.

Chaves County approves final election canvas and notes incidents
The Chaves County Commission approved the final November 5 vote canvas provided by County Clerk David Kunko after two election incidents. A woman claimed an absentee ballot didn’t register at the polling site and 11 absentee ballots sent in were not counted at the polls. The commission voted 5 to 0 not to accept the 11 votes, finding they didn’t affect outcomes. Commissioners praised clerk staff and polling workers. Trujillo and Gutierrez will be sworn in January. celebration included congratulatory exchanges among officials.
