Churchill warned Britain may face a global war as Germany presses on Leningrad and Sevastopol while Finland’s stance looms. He noted United States involvement in the Pacific could trigger British action. Britain also reports naval attacks on Axis convoys in the Mediterranean.
London dispatch reports Prime Minister Churchill warned that if the United States enters war with Japan, Britain would declare within an hour. He cautioned Japan against provoking a US-Germany clash and promised strong naval support in the Indian and Pacific Oceans while pledging solidarity with Australia and New Zealand.

A Pennsylvanian passenger train derailed after a freight cylinder head blew out. Eleven dead and about fifty injured as wreckage strewn along the line ten miles north of Dunkirk. Investigation to begin at Fort Wayne. Damage estimated at 250000 dollars.
Two circus and carnival workers died in separate New Mexico crashes over the weekend. Robert Holton, about 30, of Little Rock Arkansas, was fatally injured when a truck overturned near Santa Fe on Sunday. T C Bankston, a traveling representative for the Frank Burke shows, was killed in a collision south of Las Cruces Saturday night. Four others were injured near Santa Fe, and an elephant being moved from Santa Fe to Las Vegas was damaged.
The Navy directed Rear Admiral C. A. Blakely in San Diego to take steps to push forward defense construction projects halted by a strike of about 3,500 building trades workers on 11 military contracts totaling roughly 35 million dollars. The action follows a Navy edict to prevent work stoppages and ensure continued defense output.
Dale D. Woolsey of the U S Army recruiting service announces enlistments for service at Trinidad an island off Venezuela owned by Britain. Men must be single 18 to 35 and will go to Fort Bliss reception center for coast artillery assignment. Vacancies also exist for various foreign postings where American forces are stationed.
Daren L. Arend, patient at Fort Stanton marine hospital, pled guilty to petit larceny before Pat ONeill J P and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. Arend was arrested here Saturday night after stealing $19 from a purse at Katy's Cafe. Police found the money in a pocket in the back of his sweater between the shoulders.
Lester King pleaded guilty to armed robbery at the Roswell Safeway on October 22. Judge James B. McGhee sentenced him to 23 to 25 years. King had a prior four year Oklahoma conviction for armed robbery. An accomplice remained at large. King was arrested the next day at Dexter with 361.45 dollars. Walter Fulbright, Safeway manager, was assaulted during the robbery in which 769 dollars were taken.
Hobbs New Mexico November 10 A construction firm began operations to lay 44 miles of three and four inch pipe from Hobbs to the Vacuum field for the Phillips absorption gasoline plant. An additional 78 miles of pipeline will form a field gathering system for natural gas used in the absorption process. Oil will be pumped to Hobbs for distillation and marketing.
Representatives from the Girl Scouts Salvation Army and Boy Scouts outlined the Trio Chest drive set for November 18. New Kiwanis members welcomed were W O Montgomery Dale Flippo and Edward Mueller. Guests included J L Nunn and Gilmore Nunn as President A B Cotton chaired the meeting.

The annual Soap Box Derby for boys in homemade racing cars takes place tomorrow at 9:30 am on the hill at North Pennsylvania. Sponsored by the American Legion, prizes will be awarded to every participant and the public is invited to watch.
Mrs. John E. Smith sustained bruises and a shaken condition but no serious injuries after an auto collision at 3:45 Sunday afternoon at 7th and Kentucky. Major John E. Smith and Claude Emmett Cantrell escaped injury as their cars, a 1936 Dodge sedan and a 1932 Ford coupe, collided and the Smith vehicle overturned on its left side near the curb while Cantrell’s car struck a pole. police investigated.

Earl McClure has been filling in as executive during the transition and reorganizing the council.
The first fire drills of the present term were conducted in Roswell schools by Capt Aubrey Koonce of the fire department with assistance from fireman A T Lather. Captain Koonce reported satisfaction with the results.
The district court in Chaves County draws a regular panel of 36 and an emergency panel of 18 for the November term. From these names, a regular venire of 24 and emergency venire of 12 will be selected, with the sheriff's department handling service.
Roswell business houses and public offices will be closed tomorrow in observance of Armistice Day.
