Ball to visit Europe as NATO unity crisis grows
Undersecretary of State George W. Ball will tour Europe in the next four weeks to discuss NATO unity and the Atlantic alliance, attending the German American conference in Berlin on Nov 12 15 and the OECD Paris meeting Dec 23. He will not meet French President de Gaulle. Secretary Rusk will lead NATO talks in Paris mid December and at the U.N. General Assembly opening. Belgian Foreign Minister Spaak visits Washington next week for talks with Rusk on NATO issues and European economic rifts within the Common Market.
